Whenever I make salads for the company, I like to pair it with a side dish. Since my lunch salads are usually comprised of many ingredients, I like to keep it simple. Garlic rolls, beer bread, pull-apart loaves all rank high on the list but this time I wanted to do something different. Instead of a sweet monkey bread how about a savory version? Everything bagel cheesy monkey bread seemed like the right way to go and boy am I glad I followed my gut!
**Helpful tips and common mistakes
Since my pizza dough recipe is a fail-safe recipe that can be used for different purposes, I decided to put it to use again for this everything spiced cheesy monkey bread. Unlike the majority of pizza dough, this version doesn’t require a long proofing time, only 5 minutes to be exact! The high amount of yeast allows it to rise quickly and bakes into one deliciously soft dough.
Once the dough comes together and rests for 5 minutes, portion it into 1-ounce portions. You don’t want the rolls to be too big or the center won’t cook properly.
Roll the rolls in the seasoned butter and finish with grated Parmesan and shredded mozzarella.
Place the rolls in one even layer in a cast iron pan or baking pan. Try not to crowd the rolls too much since they will expand in the oven. Sprinkle more everything spice and parmesan and bake until the everything bagel cheesy monkey bread is golden brown.
This savory bread is best served fresh out of the oven. The parmesan creates a lovely cheesy crust on the top while the everything spice just takes it to the next level. You really can’t go wrong with this combination of flavors! If you’re looking for more ways to use this pizza dough, give these spinach artichoke pinwheeels or pizza pull apart bread a try.
