What makes this recipe special
I'm a little obsessed with peanut butter. Whenever I feed my dog a spoonful of peanut butter, I'm tempted to treat myself to one. I don't know what it is about the sweet, nutty spread, but I love it so much that I decided to make the ultimate peanut butter cinnamon bread.
Think of this bread like banana bread but with a swirl of cinnamon sugar in the center (similar to this cinnamon streusel banana coffee cake!) and a crunchy cinnamon sugar topping. Spread jam on top for a wonderful peanut butter and jam treat!

Peanut Butter Cinnamon Bread
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (296 grams)
- 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup creamy peanut butter (192 grams)
- ⅔ cup granulated sugar, divided (132 grams)
- ⅓ cup brown sugar (66 grams)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup buttermilk (250 ml)
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray 9-inch loaf pan with cooking spray and line with parchment paper.
- Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl. Combine ⅓ cup granulated sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon in a separate bowl.
- Combine peanut butter, ⅓ cup granulated sugar, and brown sugar in a large bowl. Beat together until well combined, about 2 minutes. Add eggs, vanilla extract, and buttermilk, mixing until well combined.
- Add dry ingredients and mix just until combined. Pour half of batter into prepared loaf pan and sprinkle 4 tablespoons of cinnamon sugar on top in an even layer. Use a butter knife to swirl the cinnamon sugar into the batter.
- Pour remaining batter on top and smooth the top into an even layer. Sprinkle remaining cinnamon sugar on top. Bake peanut butter cinnamon bread for 45-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove from oven and let cool completely.

Step 1: Combine wet ingredients
Peanut butter and cinnamon, does it get any better than that? The combination is simple but unbeatable. That's why it works so perfectly in this peanut butter cinnamon bread.
The other significant part? It's easy to make.

If you've ever made a quick bread before, like banana bread or pumpkin bread, you'll be familiar with this recipe. To put it simply, you mix the dry ingredients, then the wet ingredients, and combine them.
For the peanut butter, I used creamy peanut butter with sugar added, such as Jif or Skippy. I haven't tried making this recipe with sugar-free peanut butter. I imagine that the bread will not be as sweet, however, so the result will not be the same.

Although I haven't tried making this bread with crunchy peanut butter, it should work fine.
Beat the peanut butter with both sugars until well combined. Then, add the eggs, vanilla extract, and buttermilk, mixing until well incorporated.
Step 2: Add dry ingredients
Stir in the dry ingredients, mixing just until combined. Next, pour about half of the bread mix into the prepared loaf pan.
Sprinkle 4 tablespoons of the cinnamon sugar on top and use a butter knife to gently swirl it in. Pour the remaining peanut butter cinnamon bread mix on top, followed by the remaining cinnamon sugar. It might look like a lot of sugar, but you want that layer of crunch on top.

Pop the bread into the oven and bake it for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

As tempting as it is to dive right into the bread, let it cool slightly before serving. You can enjoy the peanut butter cinnamon bread warm or at room temperature. I did find that when served at room temperature, you can taste the peanut butter even more.
I love slicing into the bread and finding that cinnamon sugar swirl in the center. It's like finding a prize in a cereal box! And the flavors are exactly what I wanted, straightforward and darn delicious. Enjoy a slice for breakfast with a smear of jam or in the afternoon for a fun snack!

Make-ahead and storage
- Make-ahead: You can have the batter ready in the loaf pan and bake the bread later in the day.
- Store: Store any leftover bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
